About Course

This course is for students in 1st Grade. Each subject will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. The Math & ELA align with Common Core and NGSS/SS. It will provide 5 subjects per day, 5 days per week. The entire course can be completed at your child’s own pace but does fulfill the rigorous requirements set forth in most states of 180 days of learning and 1000 instruction hours. The content can be navigated by the child but will require some printing in advance. This course can be completed online or offline, and progress completed in the app will save to your online progress. You will be issued a certification of completion for this course. This course does not include the SOL testing requirements or the submittal of intent to teach/annual teaching reports. You will need to perform these tasks.

What Will You Learn?

  • Partition circles and rectangles into halves and fourths (intro to fractions).

Course Content

Day 1: “All About Me” & Classroom Community
Introductions, share favorite thing, establish home school rules.

Day 1: Reading & Phonics
In this lesson we will focus on short words (i.e. cat, mat, sat). We will perform the activity of WORD FAMILY sorting (-at). We will also read through the book Sam Cat.

Day 1: Math
In this lesson we will focus on counting from 1 to 20. We will complete a fun activity of number line walk (counting objects). Then we will play the game "Number Hunt" (find the numbers around the house).

Day 1: Writing
We will fill out the attachment for who my name is and also draw a self portrait. Hang onto these for later so you can see how your art will become better.

Day 1 : Science/Social Studies
We will lean about the weather (Sunny vs. Cloudy). We will also start the activity of a daily weather chart tracking.

Art
Decorate the "My First Grade" name card.
